I’m based in Paris and teach lessons in English (my native language) and French. As well as my local, in-person students, I have students joining me online from across Europe, the UK, the US, and beyond.
Who I Am and How I Teach
I’m Kayla Collingwood – a professional classical contralto, experienced voice teacher, and creative educator originally from New Zealand. I’ve worked with students of all levels, from nervous beginners to seasoned performers, and I tailor every lesson to support your individual growth.
My teaching approach is:
🎶 Holistic – We work with voice, body, and mind together. Lessons may include vocal technique, movement and body awareness, breath work, expression and theatre elements, and musicianship skills.
🎶 Person-centred – Every voice is unique. I help you explore and build confidence in your own sound with curiosity, clarity, and care.
🎶 Grounded in experience – With over a decade of teaching, performing, and study in classical music, theatre, and interdisciplinary practice, I bring both depth and flexibility to our sessions.

If past experiences have made singing feel difficult or unsafe, I understand. Many of my students come to me after struggling elsewhere. I offer a trauma-informed, non-judgemental space where we move at your pace.

🧑💻 Platform: Google Meet (alternatives such as Zoom also available)
🕒 Time Zone: Lessons follow Paris (CET/CEST) time
⏱️ Notice: Book with at least 24 hours’ notice, subject to availability. Once you've requested a booking, I'll get back to you as soon as I can to confirm.
📣 Language: Lessons are in English (French welcome as needed)
I work with both adults and children, though younger students should be comfortable focusing for a full hour online.
